Voting by Mail

Texas limits voting by mail to specific eligibility categories, and an application is required.

You may be eligible to vote by mail if you are

  • 65 years of age or older
  • Sick or disabled
  • Out of the county on Election Day and during the early voting period
  • Expecting to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day
  • Confined in jail but otherwise eligible to vote

How it works

  1. Submit an Application for Ballot by Mail to your county early voting clerk before the deadline.
  2. Your ballot is mailed to the address allowed by law for your eligibility category.
  3. Mark your ballot, follow the carrier envelope instructions carefully, and return it by the deadline.
